Immediate, full time opportunity for an HVAC Engineer &/or Designer with a well established Engineering firm. The position can be based out of either Madison or Waukesha with some flexibility to work from home.  We also have similar openings in the Milwaukee area.

The Mechanical HVAC Engineer/Designer will be working closely with a team of professionals, vendors, consultants, contractors, and clients to deliver engineering services for a variety of exciting project types. Working under the direction of a Department Director and in collaboration with Project Managers, you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design as well as develop management skills to work with large and small teams. You may be assisted by other engineering technicians and engineers in training when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities include: 

• Design and draft HVAC systems using an integrated and collaborative approach.
• Produce mechanical drawings and specifications for all phases of design, including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction/Bid Documents, Permit Documents and Construction Administration.
• Perform load and energy calculations
• Assist with feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, and energy modeling
• Guide the production of construction documents (i.e. plans, details, schedules, specifications)
• Provide construction administration for projects worked on
• Quality control of work performed
• Client Care and Communication

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or education related to this field of expertise
• 6+ years of prior related engineering experience required, specifically HVAC design
• Professional registration (PE) or Designer’s license (DE) desired
• Excellent planning and organizational skills required for fast-paced and multi-tasking environment with the ability to coordinate this information across disciplines
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Thorough knowledge of codes and regulatory standards
• Solid knowledge of mechanical systems and creation of construction documents
• Capability to perform HVAC load and energy calculations
• Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Expertise with Revit, and other software programs associated with system sizing and design
